Bowel Cancer Screening 2025

April was Bowel Cancer Awareness month, an opportunity to raise awareness and increase screening uptake and early detection.

Swift PCN have signed up to a project in collaboration with the Integrated Care Board (ICB) to work on increasing screening uptake in our area.

As part of this project, the PCN team developed a social media campaign for all practices to share on their Facebook pages. This included information on what a faecal immunochemical test (FIT) looks like, what ages are eligible to have bowel cancer screening and the survival rates of those who are diagnosed early.

Swift PCN is also in the process of hiring a temporary ‘Cancer Care Coordinator’, who will work across all 7 practices to engage with and remind people to do their bowel cancer screening test. The care coordinator will also be able to speak with people about what reasons might be stopping them for doing their screening test.
